Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to the RAISE Rochdale Pupil Referral Service (PRS) my name is Mr David Shields and I am the headteacher.  RAISE Rochdale PRS serves the whole of the Rochdale community.  We work in close partnership with all Rochdale schools and children’s services. 

Here at RAISE we work with students who may be at a time in their lives where they require specific support outside of a mainstream school setting.  This is often when they are encountering personal crisis and require support with regulating their behaviour or there are other factors restricting their access to a mainstream education such as medical causes.  It is our role to provide these students with a holistic education which includes not just a range of academic subjects, but also the life skills required to eventually return to mainstream and be successful.  These life skills are also intended to help the students succeed in life beyond their compulsory schooling.  We aspire to help our students to become the very best versions of themselves that they can be. 

Pupils will be assessed when they join RAISE.   This assessment will identify their specific needs and they will then be assigned to the relevant centre where those needs can best be met.  The focus will be on preparing pupils for a return to mainstream at the appropriate time including post 16. 

At RAISE we have highly skilled and determined staff who work extremely hard with all students and who always go the extra mile to help our students with whatever they need.  We are much more than just a school.  We offer an extensive support package for all of our students which includes mentoring, mental health practitioners, careers and post 16 advice and an extensive range of enrichment activities. 

We believe that everyone is an individual with individual needs but also that everyone is part of a wider community and we work towards achieving the needs of individuals within the needs of our community.  Every child who joins us is given a fresh start and a new opportunity.
