Welcome to the Turnaround Centre
Our provision supports pupils at key points in their educational journey, helping them build the confidence, skills, and resilience they need to succeed both in school and beyond.
At the Turnaround Centre we offer two distinct provisions: one for primary learners and one for secondary learners. Our primary provision delivers a broad and balanced curriculum based on the National Curriculum, alongside a strong focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support and nurture. Through carefully structured daily routines, we create a safe, supportive environment where pupils can develop positive relationships, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and re-engage with learning.
Our secondary provision focuses on preparing students for the next stage of their education. Learners work on developing key academic, social, and life skills that will support their transition back into mainstream education where appropriate, or help them move successfully into their next placement. For some students this includes support through the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process, ensuring they are well prepared for the next stage of their school journey.
We believe that giving pupils a voice and a sense of belonging is an important part of school life. Students take part in half-termly School Council meetings where they can share their ideas, discuss improvements, and contribute to decisions within the centre. We also bring our primary and secondary learners together for weekly assemblies, helping to build a shared community where achievements are celebrated and positive values are reinforced.
Enrichment experiences are also an important part of life at the Turnaround Centre. Pupils take part in termly trips and have opportunities to engage with a range of external visitors, including the M6 Theatre Company, local councillors, the school nurse, Youth Justice Service (YJS) representatives, and staff from local schools. We are also excited to be developing a new garden project, where all pupils will have the opportunity to work together outdoors, learning practical skills, teamwork, and responsibility while creating a space they can be proud of.
