Promoting British Values at Raise Rochdale
At Raise Rochdale, we are committed to preparing our learners to be respectful, responsible, and active members of modern British society. We promote the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs throughout our curriculum and daily school life.
Here’s how we promote British Values:
Democracy
Learners are encouraged to share their views and have their voices heard through regular class discussions, school council opportunities, and our weekly Votes for Schools programme.
The Rule of Law
We help learners understand the importance of rules in keeping everyone safe and treated fairly. Clear expectations, consistent routines, and restorative approaches support this across school.
Individual Liberty
Our nurturing environment helps learners grow in confidence and make positive choices. We teach the importance of personal rights and freedoms, particularly around online safety, wellbeing, and relationships.
Mutual Respect
Respect is central to everything we do at Raise. Learners are taught to listen, work together, and show kindness to others, both in and out of the classroom.
Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
Through lessons, discussions, and themed events, learners explore different cultures and worldviews. This helps them to appreciate diversity and understand the importance of tolerance and inclusion.
By embedding these values across all aspects of school life, we aim to help every learner re-engage with education, aspire to a positive future, and succeed as thoughtful, respectful citizens.
